Write Hand Publishing
Write Hand Publishing was
founded in Andalusia,
Alabama in 1991 by George Payne.
George first worked in
television and radio production in 1968 while in high school
in Montgomery. He brought different areas of interest from
his time in radio and television broadcasting, print media
and marketing to Write Hand Publishing. The company has
served clients in twenty-four states and six foreign
countries. George’s passion is to see the spread of
Christianity by helping Christian ministries. It was his
primary motive for beginning this business. It is the same
today.
In the early years, the
business focused on print media. The boundaries of
publishing began to expand into different areas with the
advent of digital publishing. Write Hand produced many
books, teaching manuals, teaching cassettes, DVD and VHS
video, and music CDs. The Internet offered opportunities in
the growing digital publishing industry.
George’s father was a pioneer
radio and television broadcast engineer after World War.
The same pioneering spirit gave George Payne a head start
into streaming audio and video. His first streams were
added to the Internet in 1995 using RealNetworks and
Microsoft media formats.
In 1996 Microsoft released
Windows Server NT4 and with it they threw in for free the
Netshow server later to be renamed Windows Media Server.
Write Hand Publishing got their first dedicated server and
has maintained a continuous presence for on-line live and
on-demand streaming since then.
The trend is towards H.264
video encoding. Write Hand started 2009 offering the latest
streaming services with a WOWZA Media Server 2. This
expands their offering of Windows Media and Microsoft
Silverlight to Adobe Flash, Apple QuickTime and streaming
live and on-demand for the iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad and
other Smartphones.
The passion and purpose of the
business remain the same in regard to spreading the Gospel
of Jesus. Write Hand Publishing has streamed through their
server to 192 nations recognized by the UN and its two
observers Taiwan and the Vatican. We have not heard if the
International Space Station has streamed from out servers
but we wouldn’t be surprised. God speaks to Earth. Why
shouldn’t we prophecy to the heavens?
George Payne is married to Dr. Kathy Payne. They have two
children and live in Andalusia, Alabama. George moved to
Andalusia after his marriage to Kathy. She is now a happily
retired Obstetrician and Gynecologist.
